Memorial Services

 

To me, providing music for memorial services has always been more than just performing. I enjoy using music as a ministry of comfort to hearts that are grieving. My aim is that my music will help them celebrate the life of the one they are remembering. After playing Amazing Grace with my sister on one occasion, a woman came up to me with a tear stained face, and said, “When you played Amazing Grace I was able to cry for the first time since our loss. Your music has really blessed me.”
The music we play for memorial services are mostly arrangements of favorite hymns and spiritual songs. We usually play 15 to 20 minutes of prelude music, a special song or two at the family’s request during the actual service, and 15 to 20 minutes of postlude music. Some of our most requested hymns are: Amazing Grace, Softly and Tenderly, Be Thou My Vision, Abide with Me, and Great is Thy Faithfulness.
